Comments: My brother,Pfc. Clyde Ferguson, was killed on 11-25-44. I was only 8 years old and do not know many of the details. I remember my father and mother receiving a letter from a Sgt. telling how he was killed. Their house burned and all of this information was lost. I found in your log on that date two fatalities occurred and I would be interested in any other information you might have regarding my brother. |

Comments: My husband was with the 145th combat Engineers from Normandy to the army of occupation. When I reviewed your map, on the web, I noted you had been in the same places with the Third Army. His name was John C. McDonald from California. He was either a PFC or CPL at the time. His specialty was Bailey Bridges. If anyone knows about the 145th, I would appreciate it. I have been to Europe a number of times, following the path the Third Army took. My most recent tour was with Patton's Headquarters Group. |

My father was one who never chose to talk about his war experience, not even to my mother , who is still living. She was thrilled to see this website; particularly the H&S photos since two photos of my father were included. I read all of your website with the hope of learning exactly what he went through and why he was awarded the Bronze Star. (Iwould love for someone to tell me what he and his buddies went through since it had such a huge impact on him. As I said, he never chose to share his wartime experience. Comments: I am taking a vacation to Germany. I was not in the war, in fact not even born yet. I have a deep respect for those who served and want to visit areas of battle. In looking at Web sites in Germany they make almost no mention of WWII. It looks like I will have to do research before I go. Thank you for your efforts to ensure that the memories of those who served are retained for our future reference. We must never forget where they went and why they had to go. Too much is lost already. Keep up the good work and tell your dad thanks from someone who was not around then but is now. Bil |

Comments: I served in another Combat Engineer Battalion which was Commissioned at Fort Devens August 1,1943.My Unit, the 179th, was comprised mainly of New Jersey,New York, western Pennsylvania, and southern Indiana inductees.I remember the 150th & the 206th Battalions undergoing Basic Training at the same time.Everyone at Devens then will remember Marching in Berlin on Armistice Day 1943.Thats Berlin,Massachusetts. The 179th left Devens in early January 1944.We spent the first four months of 1944 on Winter Maneuvers in West Virginia with the 35th Division. On May 1 1944, we shipped to Fort Dix and on July 1 we departed for England. On July 20 we departed South Hampton and came ashore in France two days later. We were assigned to the 20th Corps and generally operated on the right flank or just South of 12th corps. Our first river crossing was the Seine on the day Paris was liberated. We did the Assault Crossing.I forget who built the bridge. The next River Was the Moselle and we crossed the 90th Infantry at Katenom.Heavy Casualties in both of these two operations mostly from artillery.Damn 88's. |

Comments: I am 19 years old and had several family members in WW2, My Grandfather especially was the one that got me into studying WW2. He was an airplane/everything mechanic. He told me that bulldozers, power shovels, scrapers, and graders helped win the war as much as the tanks and guns did. My Dad has been an equipment operator since the was 16 nearly 40 years as with my older brother. I started when I I was 14. I am interested in old equipment pictures because I've been exposed to it all of my life. I have 2 books on Caterpillar tractors and they both have WW2 Engineer photos. I operate a John Deere scraper for my dad and a backhoe and dump truck for my brother. I'm getting better a operrating a dozer and grader. My Neigbor's family used to have a rather large consruction company and have old equipment In the woods by my house. zIve talked with him on puchasing one of the old cable D7 Cats and a LeTourneau carryall scraper and restoring them. |

Comments: My dad was Captain James Gray, originally from Pawtucket, R.I. He was wounded in Germany, recovered in England and returned to Germany at the end of the war. I don't believe that he ever missed one reunion. The 150th was a fraternity to beat all fraternities for him. He kept contact with many of the guys of the 150th, especially Andy Churchill. I can remember that name growing up and sitting on Dad's lap as a kid looking through all the photos and memorabilia. I can also remember the night the shrapnel that was still in his knees shifted - I had never seen my Dad in pain before, but then realized how bad it was. The 150th has been a part of my growing up. I know how proud Dad would be to know this website was up and available. I shall check back. |

Comments: Excellent site! As a former combat engineer in the Canadian Army, (1990 - 96) I appreciate and respect the efforts and heroism of those 'sappers' who came before us. God bless those of you who fought and sacrificed in service to your country and the ideals which keep us all free. May we all be proud of your service. Comments: Excellent homepage and detail. What a great tribute to your father. As a retired Army engineer (1972-1992), I realize the many unsung accomplishments of the engineers during this and all wars. The story of the Treadway bridge reminds me of the Class 60 floating bridge we erected across the Rhine a little further south (just north of Mannheim) outside Worms in March 1975. Our bridge was a little over 1150 feet or 85 floats if I remember correctly. Of course, this was done for peacetime training and not an assault or under fire. Even so it was a task worth remembering. Thanks for your page on the 150th Engineers and thanks for all the great bridging pictures. Charles L. Gallion, Jr. Major, USA (Retired) Corps of Engineers |

Comments: After seeing "Saving Private Ryan" and now being directed to this exceptionally wonderful, and revealing website. We truly are amazed at how "modest" Sgt. Arthur Boucher and his fellow soldiers were. When asked by their children and grandchildren, what they did during the war, they told their families that they "just built bridges". This was dismissed for many years as "all they did during the war". After reading your story, now we know better. We are truly "amazed at the courage and unrecognized heroism" that you and each of your men endured during the war. To Dad and Grampa Boucher we say, "THANK YOU AND WE LOVE YOU!!" You make us prouder than you will ever know. Love, Jacqui, Walter, Mark, Jim, and Katie |

Comments: I intend to explore this site in depth a bit later, but I wanted to ask a question. My father was a combat engineer in Italy, in the 185th Engineer Combat Battalion. Have you ever run across it in your work creating and maintaining this site? I would like to contact veterans of that outfit and maybe acquire a unit history. If I can find enough information, I might attempt to write one myself. Thanks for your help in advance. Oh yeah, the e- mail address? I'm the family redhead! Cheers! Bob |

My father William Weingartner served in the 150th. I grew up listening to the stories of his experiences and watching war movies with him. It just added to the respect and love I have for him. This website is a great way for their children and grandchildren to learn about the men and women they served with. As fathers and grandfathers they are already our heroes. They were the sons and husbands who fought to keep our country free. They are the ones to thank for giving us the freedoms we have in this country today.

I'm 33 old and my hobby is building fine scale models of WWII but only american or French material. I try always to build something new like bailey bridge or pontoon bridge. I've found some part of Bailey bridge using by a german company and some treadway parts in a french tank regiment. I've lived in SARREGUEMINES for 3 years I will thank all the veterans of the 150th combat Engineers for their contribution of the Liberation of the France. best regards denis RUPP 1e rue notre Dame 57520 GROSBLIEDERSTROFF FRANCE

Thank you for the beautiful tribute to the 150th! My brother, Al Carbone, was a member and a true and loyal patriot. Although he is gone these past four years, his memory and the 150th are very dear. It all meant so much to him. He was a wonderful son, brother, soldier, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. How do you measure greatness?? By money, achievements (some), but most important is the genuineness and value of a person. What a wonderful man Al was! I know he's at God's right hand and looking out for all of us with that beautiful smile. He always had a special place in his heart for all his buddies. All God's blessings. Ann (Carbone) Lancia

GREAT SITE!!!! The things that impresses me most are: You have put your effort into content rather than bizarre design, i.e.: backgrounds, animation's, etc. You know what you want to say and say it simply. Taking into consideration that many of your audience might be older you dealt with font size and the color of fonts and backgrounds. Congratulations
